Well, the old website has not seen any action for years now. It's pretty much just up as an archive. I have been moving all of my communications over to Google+ (Happily dumping Facebook). This is not a good thing. I have gotten some random corruption on the raid and I don't know where it came from. My backups can't detect the difference between a file change due to corruption or just a normal change. This is very bad... This server may be on its last legs, it has had intermittent issues over the last year, but all in all, it has served its time well. Hopefully this is just "one of those things" and won't happen again, but it's making me nervous...
Access to restricted areas of the site and portals permissions pooched.
If you had access to either another area of the site or to a portal to another restricted site or page and you no longer have access, let me know. Evidently, somewhere down the line, permissions got moved around for some reason. There are too many to fix as I'm not sure who was allowed where, so if you can't get somewhere you could before, let me know and I'll fix it.
Had a drive go out in the server yesterday. The hotswap spare did its job and I have a 5 drive Raid 5, BUT no time nor any more spares to go. Hopefully it was just the drive that wanted to go south and no more follow suite, but if the site goes down, I may not invest in rebuilding. I don't know yet. Some iteration of this site has been up since 1999 and it's had its busy times, and slow times.
Right now we're slow, so the impact won't be significant. I've backed up all the important stuff, but if it goes and I decide to rebuild, the 20 or so websites on 4 domains may get some serious overhaul and facelifts. So look around, it may be the last time we see this in its present form. But then again, the other drives may last another 10 years!

Site security has been lax and strict in cycles over the years. I keep it fairly secure and easy to use, but if spammers find a back door or undesireables find there way here, I lock it back up for a period of time.
